Upholding quality of WSH Training Providers through ISO Certification

With effect from 14 October 2014, all new WSH training providers (TPs) for 28 WSH courses are required to attain the International Standard Organisation (ISO) 29990:2010 certification. This certification for Learning Service Providers (LSPs) is administered by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC). Certification Bodies (CBs) accredited by SAC will conduct annual audits on the training management systems of the TPs, and ensure that they fulfil specific course requirements pertaining to courseware, trainer competency and training facilities. This is to ensure that they meet the international quality standard in the design, development and delivery of training. MOM was the first agency in Singapore to adopt the ISO 29990:2010 LSP certification scheme to further enhance the quality and management of WSH training providers.

The ISO 29990:2010 LSP certification scheme will replace the MOM Accredited Training Provider (ATP) scheme and provides a basic model for quality professional practice and performance and a common reference for LSPs and their clients in the design, development and delivery of education and training. In addition, it focuses on the sound governance and competency of LSPs by ensuring that they fulfill two core requirements; namely, Learning Services and Management of LSPs.
