Levy concession for a migrant domestic worker (MDW)

As an MDW employer, you can get a concessionary rate of $60 per month if you meet the qualifying criteria.

Who can qualify

As an employer, you can qualify for levy concession if there is an eligible person living in your household.

Levy concession can only be granted for 1 helper per eligible person and is capped at 2 helpers per household. To qualify for levy concession for a second helper, there must be 2 eligible persons in your household.

Find out the qualifying criteria and what you need to do to enjoy levy concession for each of the eligible persons below:

Child who is a Singapore citizen, below 16 years old

If you are

Levy concession will automatically start from

The parent

The date your child was born.

Not the parent

The date you add the child as a household member on FDW eService.

If the child had recently become a Singapore citizen, the records will be updated within a month. Levy concession will be automatically granted.

If you were not automatically granted the levy concession, you need to apply for levy concession.

Elderly who is a Singapore citizen, 67 years old and above

If the eligible person is

Levy concession will automatically start

Yourself (the employer)

When you turn 67 years old.

Your spouse

When your spouse turns 67 years old.

Another person

When you complete both steps below:

  • Ensure that you and the eligible person have the same NRIC-registered address.
  • Add the eligible person as a household member on 

    FDW eService.

If you were not automatically granted the levy concession, you need to apply for levy concession.

Elderly who is a permanent resident, 67 years old and above

If the eligible person is

To qualify for levy concession

Levy concession will automatically start

Yourself (the employer)

Your spouse must be a Singapore citizen.

When you turn 67 years old.

Your spouse

You must be a Singapore citizen.

When your spouse turns 67 years old.

You or your spouse’s parents or grandparents You or your spouse must be a Singapore citizen.

When the eligible person turns 67 years old and you complete both steps below:

  • Ensure that you and the eligible person have the same NRIC-registered address.
  • Add the eligible person as a household member on 

    FDW eService.

If you were not automatically granted the levy concession, you need to apply for levy concession.

Person with disabilities (PWD)

If the eligible person

Levy concession will automatically start

  • Is certified by a Singapore-registered doctor as requiring help with at least 1 activity of daily living (ADL), such as washing, feeding, dressing, moving or walking around, transferring from bed to chair and vice-versa, or toileting.
  • Belongs to one of these groups:
    • Singapore citizen
    • Permanent resident who has a parent, spouse or child who is a Singapore citizen.

When you complete all these steps:

  • Ensure that you and the eligible person have the same NRIC-registered address.
  • Add the eligible person as a household member on  FDW eService.
  • Apply with Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) and receive a recommendation letter from them.

 

If you were not automatically granted the levy concession, you need to apply for levy concession.

Home Caregiving Grant

If you hire a helper to take care of a family member who needs permanent assistance with 3 or more ADLs, you may qualify for the Home Caregiving Grant, a monthly grant of up to $400.
