MOM's Statement on the Singapore Democratic Party's appeal against MOM's Correction Directions under Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act

  1. The hearing of the SDP’s appeal against MOM’s Correction Directions under POFMA dated 14 December 2019 did not conclude on 16 January 2020. The SDP was only midway through their Submissions, and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) had yet to present MOM’s arguments to the Judge.

  2. SDP’s Dr Chee Soon Juan raised the issue of the time period of the labour statistics in question in a Facebook post on 16 January 2020. This will be addressed when the AGC presents MOM’s arguments to the Judge.

  3. As reported in the MOM’s Comprehensive Labour Force Survey, local PMETs employment has risen steadily since 2015.

  4. There is also no rising trend of local PMET retrenchments since 2015. The number of retrenched local PMETs has declined from 6,460 in 2015 to 5,360 in 2018, the lowest since 2014.
