Singapore’s Inaugural Foreign Domestic Workers’ Day
Tribute to foreign domestic workers for their contributions to society
Minister of State (MOS) for Trade & Industry and Manpower Mr Lee Yi Shyan graced the inaugural Foreign Domestic Workers’ (FDWs) Day on 5 December 2010. Organised by the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Skills Training (FAST) and other partners, the event paid tribute to FDWs for their contributions to society.
MOS delivered a speech which highlighted the important role that the Government, employer and non-governmental organisations such as FAST play in ensuring the well-being of FDWs. He also shared how MOM has enforced minimum standards on safety and health, and how MOM is raising the professional standards of employment agencies through a review of the regulatory framework.
