New Contact Singapore Launched to Attract Global Talent to Work, Invest and Live in Singapore
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Wong Kan Seng, officially launched the new Contact Singapore today. The new Contact Singapore is a strategic alliance of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to attract global talent to work, invest and live in Singapore.
2. In today's global economy, businesses move to where talent and manpower are readily available. Singapore has enjoyed strong economic growth accompanied by strong employment growth, because we have kept our labour market flexible and companies could get the manpower and talent they needed to grow. Talent is therefore a key imperative for continued growth.
3. "Singapore has succeeded through the years because we have harnessed talent well. We develop our own local talent through a good education and good career opportunities from a growing economy. We should also keep our Overseas Singaporeans plugged in with the emerging career opportunities back home. At the same time, we welcome global talent who seek to make a career, invest and do business here. And even as we enhance our efforts to reach out to and attract talent to Singapore, we must ensure that Singapore is also a great place to live. It is not just economics; it is about growing the Singaporean community and sharing in a common future. The new Contact Singapore, with its focus on talent-attraction,is a critical node in the continuum of our Whole-of-Government efforts to this end," said Deputy Prime Minister Mr Wong Kan Seng at the launch ceremony.
4. The new Contact Singapore will be a one-stop centre for those who wish to pursue a rewarding career in Singapore as well as individuals and entrepreneurs keen to invest or initiate new business activities here. It will harness the strong business network and investment promotion capability of EDB and the extensive international outreach to global talent of MOM to :
- Attract overseas entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals. Such individuals will bring with them business activities and investments that will generate economic wealth and good jobs for Singaporeans. This work reinforces our objective of economic development through attracting investments to Singapore to establish world class industry clusters.
- Attract global talent, including overseas Singaporeans to the abundant career opportunities in Singapore. This would complement our local talent pool in developing and growing world class industries in Singapore.
5. The new Contact Singapore would mount extensive efforts to reach out to global talent, including Overseas Singaporeans. A new Contact Singapore job portal, with available jobs from Singapore-based companies spanning from the technology to financial sectors, was created together with other economic agencies and industry partners. Jobs could be viewed and resumes submitted online by anyone wishing to work in Singapore, including Overseas Singaporeans.
6. Information about working, investing and living in Singapore, as well as the job portal, can be found at Contact Singapore. The new Contact Singapore is located at Level 28, Raffles City Tower, 250 North Bridge Road, Singapore 179101.
